GPS NTP

The GPS (Global Positioning System) satellite network has more uses than just providing positional information. Each satellite contains an ultra precise atomic clock that is used to provide navigational information but can also be used to provide a source of highly accurate time for the synchronization of computer networks.

GPS time is not strictly speaking the same as UTC (Universal Coordinated Time) although its time code provides the information for NTP (Network Time Protocol) to convert it exactly. A GPS NTP server is perhaps the most secure, accurate and reliable method of synchronizing a network.

Operating externally to the computer firewall, the GPS NTP server cannot be hijacked by malicious users, offers a fully secure, authenticated time source, and is accurate to within fractions of a second from UTC.

GPS is also available anywhere on the planet as long as the GPS antenna has a clear view of the sky. Galleon's NTP GPS time servers are used across the globe for time synchronization and provide a source of secure time for organizations such as NASDAQ, Bank of England, BBC, Buckingham Palace and NASA.

Galleon's GPS products tracks up to 12 satellites and gives accurate time in any location for any platform of operating system or server (including Linux, Windows Server and Windows 2000, NT, XP and Vista).
