As with all UNIX operating systems, Sun Microsystems’ Solaris is compatible with all Galleon NTP server and time synchronization tools. NTP with Solaris uses the NTP daemon xntpd which sets and maintains the system time.
xntpd is a complete implementation of the Network Time Protocol (NTP) and benefits from the asymmetric encryption and minimizes the ability of potential hackers to manipulate time packets and use NTP to change the time on a system. It is the same level of security used to secure web sites and protect credit card numbers.
